You know what time it is
That's right- it's decorative gourd season! It's the season where we can't seem to get away from pumpkins, where corn is turned into candy, and where we finally tell the kids to wear whatever it is they want and go run around with strangers in the dark of night. We really cut loose in October, and while we may not all be thrilled about finding candy wrappers in every nook of the house for the coming weeks there is one thing we can look forward to… Wine Club Fall Cases!
For us at the farm, Wine Club Fall Release is the next big "holiday" to prep for! We've got bottles bottled and boxes boxed and we're finally ready for you all to see what we've been up to this year!
Fall club cases will ship out the first week of November with local pick ups also scheduled about that time, so we need to get working to figure out what everyone will be ordering!
This year's curated club case will contain a blend of 7 different bottles as pictured above and listed below:
1- Vin d'Amador (non vintage Rhône varietal red blend)
1- '21 Shake Ridge Ranch Mourvedre
2- '18 Californy Reserve bourbon-barrel aged Primitivo
2- '20 Infinite Juice Carignan
2- '17 Tabeaux Primitivo
2- '21 Tabeaux Primitivo Rosé
2- '19 Tropic of Amador Albariño (if you've specified an all red case in the past then this will be subbed out for 2 more 2017 Tabeaux Primitivo unless otherwise requested.)
Now that we're offering so many varietals at different price points, case prices will differ according to how they're built. The current selection we've chosen includes a 10% Wine Club Member discount for a total of $310 plus applicable shipping. Any changes to the case selection will result in the accordant change to billing.
Wrapping Up Harvest:
The hottest days of the year hit us the first week of September followed immediately by several cold days that brought the first rain of the season, and immediately after that the first snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains! Talk about a quick change to the seasons! We're welcoming the Autumnal Equinox by winding downs and making big plans to do very little. We're dreaming of sleeping in, taking time to cook luxurious healthy dinners at home (a big change from a full season of cheese sticks and salami eaten in the car between vineyard trips), and maybe even cozying up in bed and reading a newspaper. Do they print those anymore?
A new family favorite:
We're very excited to announce our newest addition to the Tabeaux line-up, our 2021 Shake Ridge Ranch Mourvedre! Sourced from the same amazing vineyard as our Barbera, you'll know one thing right away: the meticulous organic farming of this fruit translates to the highest quality wine in the cellar. While it's still on the young side, it's becoming the immediate Golden Child of the current Tabeaux wines and is only going to gain in complexity as it ages. Right now out of the bottle you can expect a bright and juicy wine, light on the palate with smooth tannins yet a full body. On the nose you'll get some blueberry, black pepper, rose petal and marachino cherry, with darker meatier flavors on the palate with the addition of clay and dark cherry and a grippy, herbal finish. Just tremendous!
This is the perfect wine for cab lovers, with a lovely blend of fruit and earthy flavors. While Mourvedre has been used more commonly as a blending grape (think of the popular french trinity "GSM" aka grenache, syrah, mourvedre) you're finiding more and more winemakers treating Mourvedre as a single varietal in the cellar. If you treat it lightly you can make a wonderfully light wine that avoids being swamped down by the heavy tannins it's capable of producing. It can be a tricky grape to work with and achieve balance, but we're over the moon about how this vintage has turned out and we think you will be too! One bottle of this will be included in each of our club cases this fall, but if you're interested in more just let us know in an email and we're happy to make adjustments to your order as availability allows.
As always, thanks for all of your support this year and the many years that have come and gone! Can't believe we're finishing up year 7 as a family winery and how far we've come together. The wines are beautiful, we love our work, and we couldn't do any of it without your generous support.
For all of you who have come to the winery, kept in touch, or continued your annual orders from afar- we thank you!
Salud,
The Boggs Family at Tabeaux Cellars
